Bath Time

16"x20" Oil on Canvas Elephants once ranged unrestrained through much of Africa, but have now been decimated across most of the continent. In northern Botswana, the Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve host one of the largest remaining populations of elephants. Thousands of elephants congregate close to the Chobe River daily to drink and bathe. An elephant will never stay too far from a water supply. They can drink up to 40 gallons at one time. Whether being completely submerged or just showering off using their trunk, elephants like to take a bath everyday if possible. After their bath or shower, they will coat their skin in dirt. Sounds funny to us but this is to protect their skin from insects and the sun.

Tanzania Sunset

48"x36" Oil on CanvasTo the Massai it is Siringitu- “The place where the land moves on forever.” To the first white man to lay eyes on the area it was “paradise”. The Serengeti region, found in the Eastern African countries of Tanzania and Kenya, encompasses over seven parks and reserves and two World Heritage Sites. The ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. Life and death are played out every year as over one million wildebeest and more than 200,000 zebras migrate to follow the rains, forging crocodile infested rivers and facing droughts. Sadly many animals still find their biggest danger in the Serengeti from humans. Illegal poaching takes over 40,000 animals every year.
